Solutions Festival | Community Action Project Presentation on Adolescent Well-being

At the Solutions Festival, participants of School for Social Transformation (SST) 8.0 continued to present community-driven ideas shaped through reflection and lived experience. The next presentation was by Arya S. R., who introduced her Community Action Project titled “Behaviour Issues of Adolescence.”

About the Project

Arya’s project emerges from a deep concern for adolescents navigating one of the most sensitive phases of life. Adolescence is marked by rapid emotional and psychological changes, often intensified by academic pressure, peer influence, excessive exposure to social media, and reduced communication within families.

In many communities, young people lack consistent emotional support and guidance and are frequently exposed to unhealthy behaviours and distractions. These factors contribute to rising emotional and behavioural challenges such as anger, stress, mood swings, social withdrawal, and academic disengagement, which over time affect mental health, relationships, and future life choices.

The Proposed Solution

The project proposes a structured, community-based support system for adolescents that focuses on counselling, emotional support, life-skills development, and stress-management training. It also encourages open communication between students, parents, and teachers, promotes healthy activities and peer support, and emphasises early identification of concerns with timely guidance.

The action plan is designed in progressive phases, beginning with awareness and sensitisation and moving toward mentorship, regular monitoring, parental involvement, and long-term sustainability. Using a SMART framework, the project sets clear and measurable goals, such as reducing aggressive behaviour within three months, improving school attendance within a term, and managing screen time within six weeks.

Why It Matters

This presentation highlighted that behavioural issues in adolescence are not signs of failure, but signals for care and understanding. Arya’s project reframes discipline as support, and challenges communities to replace judgement with guidance.

It reminds us that early emotional support can prevent long-term harm and that adolescents flourish when they are heard, understood, and nurtured.

A Step Forward

As part of the Solutions Festival, this presentation stood as a commitment to building emotionally resilient young people. By integrating counselling, life skills, peer engagement, and parental involvement, the projects lays the foundation for healthier minds, stronger relationships, and a future where every adolescent is supported to grow with confidence and care.
