Solutions Festival | Community Action Project Presentation on Youth Skill Development
At the Solutions Festival, participants of School for Social Transformation (SST) 8.0 continued to present community-driven ideas shaped through learning and lived experience. The next presentation was by Aseem C.K., who introduced his Community Action Project titled “Project Elevate – Understanding Soft Skills.”
About the Project
Aseem’s project is rooted in his observations from Mongam, a semi-urban locality in Malappuram district where education is highly valued and many young people aspire for higher studies or employment. While students complete formal education, learning remains largely exam-oriented, leaving little space for developing essential life skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Despite an active community environment, there are limited structured platforms for youth interaction, mentoring, and holistic growth. This gap often results in students being academically qualified but unprepared for real-world challenges.
The Proposed Solution
Project Elevate proposes creating consistent, community-based spaces for soft-skill development. Aseem outlined plans to conduct monthly day-long workshops, introduce activity-based sessions in schools, and establish problem-solving labs that use real village issues as learning tools.
The initiative envisions forming a youth community within the village to plan and coordinate these learning activities. Through regular sessions focusing on communication, leadership, teamwork, and confidence-building, students will be supported in developing practical skills alongside academic knowledge.
Why It Matters
This presentation highlighted a critical gap between education and employability. Aseem’s project bridges this divide by recognising that true learning goes beyond textbooks. By grounding soft-skill development in community life, the initiative ensures that young people are not only educated, but also empowered.
It reinforced the idea that social transformation begins when youth are equipped with both knowledge and the confidence to act.
A Step Forward
As part of the Solutions Festival, this presentation stood as a commitment to nurturing capable, confident, and socially aware youth. By building platforms for holistic learning, Project Elevate lays the foundation for a future where students are prepared not just for exams, but for life strengthening both individuals and the community at large.
