Solutions Festival | Community Action Project Presentation on Inclusive Community Spaces
At the Solutions Festival, participants of School for Social Transformation (SST) 8.0 continued to present community-driven ideas rooted in lived experience and collective vision. The next presentation was by M. S. Mohammed, who introduced his Community Action Project titled “Kerala’s Economic and Social Transformation Through Inclusive Community Interaction & Collective Development.”
About the Project
Mohammed’s project is inspired by his deep connection to Poovachal Panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram district a culturally rich region known for its unity, grassroots values, and contributions to Kerala’s cultural identity. Despite its strong community spirit, Poovachal, like many places today, faces a growing challenge: the gradual decline of shared spaces where people from different backgrounds can meet, interact, and grow together.
As traditional community spaces fade and inclusive alternatives remain limited, opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and collective development are shrinking. This absence weakens social bonds and reduces the sense of shared responsibility that once defined community life.
The Proposed Solution
The project proposes the creation of inclusive community spaces that bring together people across age, religion, and social backgrounds. Mohammed outlined plans to build platforms for youth engagement, skill development, and community-led events that encourage participation and collective action.
Through volunteer networks, pilot events, motivational gatherings, and peer-driven initiatives, the project envisions reviving a culture of togetherness. These spaces will serve as hubs for learning, dialogue, creativity, and problem-solving enabling communities to reconnect and co-create solutions.
Why It Matters
This presentation highlighted the importance of spaces where people can simply meet as equals. Mohammed’s project reminds us that social transformation does not happen in isolation; it grows from interaction, trust, and shared purpose.
By rebuilding platforms for connection, the initiative seeks to restore harmony, strengthen social fabric, and nurture a sense of belonging that transcends difference.
A Step Forward
As part of the Solutions Festival, this presentation stood as a commitment to reviving collective life at the grassroots. By reimagining community spaces as centres of inclusion and growth, the project lays the foundation for a future where communities across Kerala live, learn, and grow together strengthening culture, connection, and collective prosperity.
